View Silhouette
Silhouette in the traditional sense is the opaqued view of a given subject. Much like the art projects done as children, silhouettes are used by animators to determine if a pose “reads” as intended. If intent or feeling can be inferred from the silhouette of a pose, then its a sure bet that the final, rendered version will read as well. Do not discount this exercise when creating characters, especially when animating. Body language is universal, and a good silhouette sells intent. Bad silhouettes are ambiguous and hard to read. They are to be avoided.
