ArchiCAD to Cinema 4D, Part 03: Using the ArchiCAD Exchange Plugin
In this video we explore the workflow for exporting geometry from ArchiCAD 18 to Cinema 4D using the Archicad exchange plugin. In this video we will take a look at how to export ArchiCAD geometry to Cinema 4D, different export setting for ArchiCAD and how to make changes to the geometry in Archicad and updating the geometry in Cinema 4D. This plugin helps us use ArchiCAD’s quick modeling techniques and Cinema 4D’s advanced modeling tools and powerful render engine to create photorealistic visualizations. |

ArchiCAD to Cinema 4D, Part 04: Editing ArchiCAD Scenes with C4D Modeling Tools and Deformers
In this video we explore how to use Cinema 4D to create new and edit existing geometry sent from ArchiCAD. In this video, we will send geometry from ArchiCAD to Cinema 4D, and create a new custom sculpture using Cinema 4D’s modeling tools, such as bevel, and deformers like “twist” and “taper”. Eventually, we will send this custom sculpture back to our ArchiCAD project. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 01: Series Introduction
In this series we will explore some of Cinema 4D’s modeling tools by creating a propane tank cylinder. We start the series by importing reference material and creating the tank shape using a Lathe object. Then, we will create the valve assembly using some more traditional polygonal modeling techniques. One realistic touch that is covered is the creation of helical threads at the end of the valve assembly. Once the valve assembly is done, we get to use the Spline Wrap deformer, and this gives us a chance to combine multiple deformers, in this case a pair of bend deformers. This part of the tutorial explores the idea of modeling an object similarly to its real world counterpart. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 02: Setting up your Scene
Import reference images into the viewport Background. We will import our reference material into Cinema 4D, and run a few tests to make sure everything lines up properly. We’ll be adding a background image into each of our viewports, and take advantage of the viewport properties keyboard shortcut: Shift-V. You can download the reference images by clicking “Files”. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 03: Creating the Tank Body
Model the main shape of a propane tank using a Lathe object. This video covers the modeling the propane tank’s body. We create the shape using a spline and the Lathe generator object. We were able to add some detail to the lathe shape with the chamfer tool and the knife tool. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 04: Creating the Valve Assembly
Modeling the valve assembly of the propane tank. This video covers the creation of the valve assembly that screws into the top of the propane tank. We use some cylinders, a Bool object, and some basic modeling techniques to create this object. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 06: Adding Threads to the Valve Assembly - Part 1
Creating the helical shape for the threads. In this video we use a pair of helices, and a loft object to prepare some geometry for the next modeling steps. The end result will be a helical strip of polygons. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 07: Adding Threads to the Valve Assembly - Part 2
Cutting the threads object so the ends are clean. This video shows the next steps in the creation of the threads. We clean the ends by cutting them off, and then we bore a cylinder through the center of the threads. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 08: Adding Threads to the Valve Assembly - Part 3
Merging the cleaned up threads onto the valve assembly. This final part of the threads creation tackles the merging of the two objects and covers a way to get a smooth transition between the two objects. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 09: Adding the Handle/Frame
Creating the handle area of the propane tank with a Spline Wrap deformer. This video shows how to create the handle/frame section of a small propane tank using an arc primitive, a cube, and the Spline Wrap deformer. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 11: Adding Details to the Handle/Frame - Part 2
Creating hand-holds on the handle of the propane tank. This part tackles the creation of the hand holds by curling the existing geometry upwards using two Bend deformers. We also add some polish to the corners of the handle object. |

Modeling a Propane Tank, Part 12: Adding the Base of the Tank
Modeling the lowest ring of geometry. This video takes us through the process of modeling the lowest ring shaped bit of geometry on the tank. We used a modeling technique very close to the real-world manufacturing process (punching then bending), and the end result is an editable object that can be tweaked and adjusted even after it has taken its final form. |
