I’m struggling with modeling part of a medical syringe. The grip where your fingers support the syringe while administering medication is the area I’m having trouble with. Everything else is basically lathed objects or modeled with primitives.
I’ve attached a profile image and highlighted the area I’m struggling with. The second image is a different angle so you can see the end where the medication container snaps in is actually elliptical but then quickly becomes cylindrical.
Not a good enough modeler to have a clue as to the best approach to creating this. Those ridges have me stumped as well. A piece of cake for a seasoned modeler I’m sure.
I can’t see an image. I have sent you an upload link. Please with the scene file. I get an email automatically after something is uploaded. I will look into it ASAP.
Files are now twice in my DropBox. Thanks for the extra care, to get the files to me. I need a moment to find a proper reply, please allow for some time.
Here is a quick run-down of the most straightforward way I can think of. Except the symmetry could have helped to need only a quarter of the shape instead of half.
This is part of a medical syringe, I have three views registered pretty close. If anyone can point me in the direction best for modeling something like this I’d be grateful. The rest is pretty basic so I should be good with that.
Hi R.Cates, I can delete the other thread, if you like.
Please let me know what steps might in need for more details. Whereby I would love you introduce you to the techniques more than just sharing a result.
Every model might have other requirements and it takes some time to “see” what the starting core of an object is.
Please never hesitate to ask, I’m happy to look into it, and other people reading along might have a benefit from your question.
Yes please delete the other post unless you feel the photos attached are of some benefit. I’ll be working on this tomorrow so if I get stumped I’ll be sure to ask. Thank you for sharing your experience. Service to others is very noble.
Thank you very much, R.Cates, that offer has put a massive smile on my face.
I’m glad when I can help, and supporting the projects of the artists/members here is a kind of magic. Over the years, I have seen many people growing into 3D a lot, and that (!) feels just wonderful.
I said it before, and it is not a copy&paste; sentence, I mean it: If you have any question, please let me know, I’m happy to look into it.
You have opened my eyes up to so much with this small project. I make a serious effort to figure things out through online tutorials and trial and error. I did get stumped in a couple of spots but figured it out. Things are progressing nicely - though not real fast.
Very appreciative of your kind offer and may very well take you up on that when I start surfacing. These are inexpensive and the housing is a sort of dull translucent plastic - image attached.
