Spline Dynamics collisions

I can’t get a sweeped hose that I created with spline dynamics to not interesect with other objects that I have put hair collider tags on. The hose is part of a mechanical leg. So I am using the spline dynamics to get it to flop around in response to the leg operation. Any ideas as to why it keeps intersecting surrounding geometry even though the tags are all set up to protect the hose and cylinder from doing so?

Hi jcorbitt,

It is hard to tell without a scene file but easy to check: Only the points (vertice) will interact with objects. If the object (collider) is between two points, it will have no idea about the collider.

A lot of great tips about Spline Dynamics have been given by Chris Schmidt. I think he has covered this them like no one else.

It is no secret that I prefer manual animation over dynamics, but I get the idea of having that automated.
A rig of some nulls combined via MoTracer to a spline is often the fastest way to control it.

All the best
