POSE MORPH - CORRECTIONAL PSD

Hi, I would like to ask about work with correctional PSD. It works perfect when I move joint goal and sculpt correctional blend shapes in Cinema 4D. Does it exist any way how to work with this in case I want to sculpt correctional blend shapes in Zbrush? Can I import meshes for each position without using C4D sculpt mode?

I tried following techniques:
- Adding second Morph Tag on Relative mode (position isn’t written to Correctional PSD)
- Copy -> Paste ASCII data of each vertex (ascii doesn’t respect weight tag)
- Replace With
- Project Mesh
- Projection
- few other techniques, all of it doesn’t work

It exist some hidden magic tool (like Sculp to Pose Morph but contrariwise) or any way how to easily snap 4400 vertexes? Hey vertex ID 456, I can’t find your 456 partner in viewport but go to position as vertex 456 on the second mesh, but please, without Pose Morph tag).

Anybody help me? I am fighting with this for 3 days.

Thanks a lot C4D lovers smile

[Edit: post #7 has a workflow clip /edit]

Hi m.mittelmann,

I would love to have a look at your file as well as the one you get from Z-Brush.

Since I don’t have it, please try the following. (I assume that the mesh has not been altered in terms of point amount nor point id/number.)

• Set the PoseMorph to Edit
• Drag the Correction Mesh into the list (name it wisely before). Answer the alert with NO.
• Chose PSD
• Set the Pose, while the Joints are in the way correction is needed.
• Switch the Pose Morph to Animate, test [press play].

The example project file, based on this list

Is this working for you?

Stay safe, stay healthy.

Thanks, I tried this technique but the problem is that my model from Zbrush is sculpted after IK rig process. So, I try to define position of each vertex after IK, not in original mesh. Like in Maya or other 3D softwares.

Here is C4D scene for better understanding: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wuk21abd67s0s5r/correctional_PSD_trouble.c4d?dl=0

Hi, m.mittlemann.

Thanks for the file, very much appreciated. The image didn’t gave me any real information. (The Thumb is way off, it will not even cover the joints anymore.)

If you create the PSD in C4D, it should be created in the pose where you need it.

(How Maya does it is of no interest here, nor do I have any information that Cinema 4D tries to take it as a target to be in that way. Just saying for future references. I get this often, but it doesn’t help here at all.)

There is no information available in the manual that you can use an already deformed mesh, deform it externally and bring it back it.

This is the first time I get this question at all, so it is new to me. Having said that, to give you an idea about the following, it is a suggestion, not a workflow that I have ever used in production:
Screen capture
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/muLnfdOHol3GawA6jCSBQfz9iBTbbJ93dIQq9MC1a2E

In short, I went to the position (joint wise) where the mesh was harvested from (Current State To Object), and the wanted corrections applied to it.
I took the Weight Tag for this mesh, and set exactly at that position the Binding pose. With a copy of the Skin-Object, the mesh could be brought back to original Binding Pose, but with all the changes, it has gotten thus far.
While the Skin-Object is off, the mesh should (please test this!) do its job now as PSD information.

Again, this idea is not even 10 minutes old and needs testing. For now, I have no other idea.

I will check this with Xpresso. But that might take a while.

My best wishes

P.S.: Here is the Xpresso idea, it takes the point position and applies it to the target mesh (…which should be a copy of course)

It works with an Iteration, 0-4423, for 4424 points.

One object gives the point information, the other one takes it.

After that, the Xpresso tag should be disabled. Then one can go back to the Bind position [via joint position], and harvest the PSD information.

I hope that short text makes sense. Please let me know if there is a question about Xpresso, I’m not clear if you know it well or not.

Thank you Dr. Sassi, it works! Is needed only turn ON and OFF Xpresso checkbox in Correctional PSD edit mode and the position is saved as correctional blendshape. You are true master, you saved me. Big thanks again!

Thanks a lot, m.mittelmann, you’re very welcome.

So it worked for you without bending them back: Thanks for the feedback, I learned something from you.
Thanks, as well as for exploring my little pointer. grin

I’m happy that you got what you need!

My best wishes!

P.S.: just to have all the needed steps available for everyone in my “one-minute clip #914.” No audio, for silent studio use.

The P.S. above was more for people reading along, but you are very kind to reply.
Have a great Sunday.
