Textures Not Associating Themselves with R21 Preset Library

Hi, Doc.

I’m trying to create a material pack for distribution.  In the past, I’ve always created a New Preset Library in the Content Browser.  When I would drag a material with texture maps into the preset library, a “tex” folder would appear and it would store that material’s textures.  I’m following this same process in R21, but when I drag a material, no “tex” folder is appearing.

Can you please tell me what I’m doing wrong or what I need to change so that the textures link with the materials?

Thanks!

Hi Mark,

I tried all possible (?) ways, but I always get a tex folder. Standard materials, Node-based materials.

I set up the materials. Then I save the project file with assets. If I drag this into the Content Browser> User Preset Folder or in new Preset Folder, I get the Text folder. If I do not use the Content Browser, and save the new Preset from the Material Manager, again, it creates the tex folder.

Have I followed the way you would do it? Screen-capture

The manual mentions the option to press the option/alt-key to disable that any texture will be copied. (?)

Please try again with a texture name that you have never ever used before, just to gain more information.

If nothing helps, please check this with the support.

Sorry that you experience this problem.

My best wishes

Doc, my apologies.  I forgot to mention that I’m working with Redshift materials.  This said, when I’ve dragged Redshift materials to the Preset Library in previous versions of C4D, a tex folder has always appeared.  I’m not sure what’s going on here.

Mark,

I tried to find an answer, but so far, I can’t really tell in which direction I have to point you: Maxon’s Support or Redshift’s?

Please try the Maxon Support first, just a gut-feeling.

Fingers crossed it is solved in no time.

All the best

Thanks for your help, Doc.  I’ve reached out to both Maxon and Redshift.  Hoping somebody can help me.
