Mixamo control rig. Mesh detatching from rig. Is there a bug?

Hello,

I’m using the character mixamo control rig with motion clips, It works but when i save and re-open the project it stops binding to the main mesh, so only the hair and eyes are animated.  All the settings look the same.
I don’t know if its a bug or i’m missing something? Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks. : )

Hi Engles11,

Please check your private messages here on Cineversity. I have sent you an upload link.

In the past months, I have created quite a few clips with it, and I checked the “old” files with S22 after I got your question. It opens just fine.

I will have a look at it.

Have a great weekend, stay safe, stay healthy.

Hi Dr. Sassi,

Hope you’re well.

Thanks so much for helping out and checking out your old files with R22.

I’ve sent my file to you via dropbox.

Much appreciated. : )

Hi Engles11,

I have done it many times now (many hours to be honest), and I get only the result that you have received (Cineversity Private Messages) as a link.

In S22 (there is no R22), the steps are the same, only the interface has changed.

The only thing where I had the feeling it is not really working, is when the Skin object is placed as a child, while a child polygon object is there as well. I would advise against it. It is not more work, and the result is much more clear to handle.
It is pretty much as in Joans Pilz Quick Tip. It needs to be done precisely as such, with the difference in the newer interface, see the image below.

My best wishes, stay safe, stay healthy.

P.S.: Since the interface has changed a little bit, and lately, there were some posts about this, I would like to share this clip. I recorded this evening with a new downloaded character from Mixamo and S22 as the main application, of course. I saved it and re-open the file, as that was the question here.

Clip

Here is a shortlist of steps

• De-activate any animation
• Reset to Binding Pose (Weight Tag)
• BUILD Set up Character, Mixamom Control Rig.
• ADJUST will snap the control points to the Mixamo rig.

• Position the Knee joints, perhaps pull the foot back a little bit after that.
• Ignore BINDING for now
• ANIMATE will now switch to a new entry interface, Retarget Master and Weight Transfer.
• Retarget All (typically)

• Drag the Objects that have a Weight Tag in the Weight Tag List. , press Transfer Weights.
• Set the Mixamo joints to invisible
• Enable the animation back if wanted.
• Save a new copy.

Cheers

Hi Dr. Sassi.

The file you sent back works great. That’s really helpful to have those clear steps, and your video clip.  Amazing.

Thankyou.
