object emerging from liquid

hi there,
Could anyone shed some light on the best approach for making an object emerge out of a thick liquid?
Still very new to C4D.

Would I be looking at doing this in X-particles or real flow? I want to go for a fairly realistic look.

Thank you

Steve

Hi Steve,

Perhaps this might help the brainstorming:
https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaytut/walking_through_fields_using_fields_with_volumes_animating_liquid_chocolate

The two applications you have mentioned are certainly the way to go.  You might check into the Companies Fora to get perhaps some ideas about it.
Insydium has some great tutorials in the Maintenance access area.

But also here.

Realflow has Cinema 4D related videos here:
http://www.nextlimit.com/realflow/learn-support/

Please have a look at this little sketch (it needs more and smaller spheres), which is done with only some simple and native Cinema 4D S22 tools. Scene file and a screenshot (cache it, please)

(Perhaps add a Tracer to it, with the Cloner inside and a Limit set to end and around 5.)

We had a similar question a while ago, here is the result of it, with a similar setup.

Cheers, stay safe, stay healthy.

P.S.:

I know you asked for fairly realistic. I pull typically away from those requests if no reference material is provided.
So far it is certainly not defined, as a thick liquid is not a very precise project description. Besides, art direction will have another layer of qualities to be concerned about.

Here are some files, whereby I think, going with native Cinema 4D tools, the Cv2_r21_drs_20_ANri_01.c4d is the simplest and most elegant way to have a quick workflow for this effect.
The CV2_r21_drs_20_CLbr_01.c4d has more details.
Last but not least, the CV2_r21_drs_20_XAtf…c4d files are just very raw X-Particle sketches. (I have not included the cache, as those get quite large.)
As I mentioned, the Insydium forum is the place to go for that.

Some extra information:
This is the closest I was able to find on Insydium.

On HelloLuxx, and I hope that is not considered advertisement: I guess with over nine hours of training should leave not so much left to learn, going by the shown results.

My best wishes for your project

Morning Dr Sassi,
thank you for your detailed reply!
plenty of stuff for me to get stuck into grin

Will have a look at solving in C4D first, but the xparticles pieces do look like the way to go.

Thanks again! will post results when I get there hopefully.

Good Morning Steve,

Thanks a lot for the kind feedback.

Yes, I believe the X-Particles is the way to go, but I wouldn’t ignore Real Flow. I had RF only shortly besides some FXPHD training way back in time, and it was not too difficult. On the other hand, the X-Particles feels more like an open system that covers so much more.

I hope you enjoy the exploration!

Here it is 23:15h now, and based on that, I say good night.
except, one more:
