Use Deformer outside the Hierarchy Basis

Hi,

Is there a way to use deformer outside from hierarchy basis?
Currently, the deformer needs to be in a child or a sibling of an object of which to be affected.
I’m thinking of a setting where you just drag an object to be affected.

Same thing with Effectors there is an include/exclude section.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Hi bentraje,

Any deformer needs to be a child or sibling, as you mentioned. There is no option like an include/exclude list.

You might suggest that feature here:
https://www.maxon.net/en-us/support/suggestions/
Suggestions could be:
Things like the Instance or Group-Effector comes to mind, something that would duplicate the function while leaving the original object anywhere. I tried all the possible options.

Another idea would be that the Correction Deformer could have a Reference Field to work as a remote connector.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi,
Thanks for the response.

RE: I tried all the possible options.
Do you have a particular method/option that you can recommend?

Also I’m not sure about the Reference Field.
I’m using R20 but there is no Reference field. Only Radial and Random Fields.

Or are you referring to a different option/object?

Hi betraje,

What I wrote above was about ideas for the suggestion, as I wrote it directly under the link for Suggestions-Form, to be clear, there is no way to have a deformer in a remote location in the Object Manager.

I hope the input that you create in the suggestion form, and why that is important to you will find some interest from the developers.

Cheers

Thanks for the effort, bentraje, and sorry for the confusion, I have added a line in my post [#1] to be more precise.

Fingers crossed.
