Hey Dr. Sassi, you are the man!-but I knew that-I suspected your specific response concerning pos, vs global, , but wanted an authoritative answer , so I feel better ; )-your option of multiple Vibrate tags on nulls is great as well. BTW, i did not think to zip my file-  this forum does not take C4d files, so I could have zipped and avoided you spinning your wheels for no productive reason -I guess I am a bit foggy today-take care, Craig

Thank you Craig for the nice feedback.

We got the drop box running, we got some problems solved and you liked the Null hierarchy idea. Sounds to me like a good outcome.

Yes, zip the file—I should have asked why dropbox, if we talk about three nodes…, but I assume always there is a reason. Anyway, I should have ask.

I hope you are motivated to explore XPresso even more now. Enjoy the ride and please ask if you “hit the wall” with something.

My best wishes

Sassi

Hi Dr. Sassi, how are you today?-well, I did what you suggested, which makes perfect sense. I ca not get my noise/vibration tag to work. I may end up using your suggestion, vibration tag to null, etc, but I want to understand why I can not get this to work. If you get a chance, can you please check this out?, thank you in advance, [url=http://https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31514862/noise-tag-not-working.c4d

Hey Craig,

Thanks for asking, I’m doing fine, I hope you are done fine as well.

I have attached a file with a set up that works, at least from my perspective.

Please check the Frequency and the Seed in each Noise node.

It makes no sense* to use only one Noise node and feed this information then split in to X,Y,Z,H,P,B. This is the same than to use one Noise node and feed it into the Vector inputs for Position and Rotation. *Sense means here that the same value for, e.g., X,Y and Z results in a diagonal movement only, like on a straight line.

If you like to have a unique and really random movement each input needs its very own Noise node feed. (Each with different Seed and perhaps frequency setting!)

I left your multiply in the XPresso, you might had an idea with it. but you can set up the Amplitude in the noise with a similar result of course.

My best wishes

Sassi

Thanks so much-I apologize, I neglected to mention that, I was hoping to be able to move my cube, or any object with this tag to it -is it not possible with this setup?-if not, i can use your excellent suggestion of using vibration on a null, several times, which is a great alternative

You need to feed the position change then a) inside of the XPresso into the object that needs to be moved (which would need some discussion how…), or b) you simply place a parent on top of it and move the parent.

I have attached a scene file where the cube has changed its position by moving a Null, and it is as well revolving around based on the top Null. Please explore the set up.

If you like to see an example for a), let me know. BTW, I have change the reference of the cube in the Cube.Node, so the connection is not lost when moved. the Torus is there to show how another object can be moved based on the cube movement

All the best

Sassi
