Cineversity

Last time I played around with C4D r.6 and that was a LONG time ago. Just purchased C4D r17, 18. A lot has changed since version 6. I don’t want to bother anyone with such basic questions but I just can’t find the appropriate literature to educate myself as how to do certain things. One thing that has been bugging me is “scaling materials. I’m trying to apply a brick texture but I can’t scale the brick to the right size. Also the “Specular” effect, you know the really shinny effect. How can I accomplish this??  I realize some questions can’t be answered in one sentence, maybe if you know of a tutorial or know of a good book I will thankful. Thank you so much in advance.

There are no real basic questions (i.e., “simple”), as they all represent parts of a more advanced set ups. Never underestimate the power of basic things. Without them, the development is tremendously slowed down. I mentioned this as I want to give you the idea to ask whatever it is, I do not see those as basic, they are essential for the progress one wants to have. There are no short cuts …

There is a enormous value in this little book. Scene files will do even more for you.
Tutorials are also in the Help Content of the application it self.

To answer the texture question, well, here is a one minute clip to get you started, but texture and material is a larger theme, and as mentioned—essential.
