Line color and shading aren’t exporting to illustrator .AI file

I have a text model I created in C4D with the shading and color outline I wanted with Sketch and Toon. When I export to Illustrator I am not getting the color or shading in the exported file.

Is this even possible or am I missing something in the export settings?

I have Line and surface export checked. I selected object for shading.

I am at a confusing lose here.

I didn’t get the color out but I was able to get the shading and outline in their own layers to than modify in illustrator.

Exporting from C4D to AI is not easy. It’s a shame that this export option is not further developed. The possible utilization is massive if made easier like CS- ArtSmart was.

Hi CreativeRaul,

Use a perspective camera (no front or side, etc.) and instead “Object” use the “Facetted” mode.

I have set up the colors inside of the S&T settings, please have a look. (Yes, I changed the colors to make the change visible!)

Ai is a pure “Postscript Editor” and was designed as such. It is a different language than any 3D app to my knowledge has. I guess there is the problem that the integration is not deeper.
But if more people would suggest that to MAXON, I’m certain with the right amount of requests, there might be more development power assigned to it.

All the best

P.S.: the object mode writes the color of the Display Color, hence the Object mode.

Dr. Sassi,

Thank you for that small detail. I wish there was that kinda audience for using C4D for illustration use. I don’t think there is, let alone organized to demand such an improvement.

Time will tell hopefully.

Thanks for the feedback, CreativeRaul.

Yes, Illustrator is such a powerful tool, It can be so useful, I agree.

There is certainly a broad user base, but I guess they have not really discovered the power of Cinema 4D yet. ;o)

My best wishes.
