Hi Folks,

I am pretty sure I can do this with expresso, just not sure how. I want to set up a digital countdown from 2:00 to 00.00. Anyone have any suggestions on how best to achieve this?

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve,

How do you want to show the clock?

Examples:
http://old.cineversity.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2720&PN=1&TPN=12
(See image and file, I just tested the set-up if it works for r17)
Of course the numbers need to be in a minute notation.

All the best

Here is a User Slider based count-down.

It is based on an OCR font, so the Kerning isn’t introducing a wiggling.

My best wishes

Hey Dr. Sassi

This second one is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for this ! Very much appreciated.

Two questions

1. If I wanted to make it a 3 minute clock ( I need both actually) would I change a setting in the expresso. If so which one?

2. I tested it using 3600 frames (30 x 120 sec) keyframing. It works but seems to take about 150 frames to go from 1:59 to 1:58 is that to be expected or should it change a number every 30 frames? It seems to work fine after that. I am using R16 if that’s a factor.

Thanks Again,

Cheers

Hi Steve,

You can manage the User Data to change the amount of time, no need to dig into the XPresso for that. I have set up that allows for a longer time.

If you see this kind of slow start and slow end, the interpolation of the keyframe need to be set to linear (not spline nor step).
(If you check the file each second of scene time represents a minute, in that way 15, 45, 75 should be :30.)

Let me know if there is more, and no, r16 or 17 should work in the same way.

My best wishes

Here is a little bit cleaner version of the XPresso, for the use of 0 to 599 seconds. Which means any font type can be used now.

The result is shown in a “min : ten-sec sec” format.

Click on the XP—>User Data object to get to the User Data slider in the Attribute Manager.

Keyframes needs to be in linear.

All the best
