Hi Dr. Sassi, how are you today? I have an object that is keyframed, from point A to point B. I have another object that I want to copy/paste these keyframes ( position and rotation). Afterwards, i intend on modifying the copy/pasted frames to look different from the first. How can I transfer, ie, copy/paste these frames from one object to another?, thanks, Craig

Hi Craig,

I’m fine, thank you, I hope you are doing fine as well.

If I get your question correctly, there is an object with keyframes and one that has not even tracks for that.

Besides the manual (CINEMA 4D CINEMA 4D Prime Animate Menu Timeline Edit…Copy and Paste) I found this useful:

a)

In the timeline, Keyframe Editor, go to View and switch the Automatic [mode] view on. Now all objects are there.

With a CMD (or CTRL) drag, move the “track” (e.g., Position) to the object with no “tracks”—done

b)
If you like to have all tracks at once (PSR), CMD (or CTRL) drag the object on top of the never animated object.

Let me know if that works for you.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi, if one of my objects doesn’t have any keyframes, how can I control/drag?-now the object w/keyframes is the only object in timeline

Thanks for the info.

Drag objects from the Object manager if everything else fails.

Good luck wit the project.

From the Help

Automatic Mode is the default mode. It ensures that all items that can be animated located in the various Managers, such as objects, tags, materials, render settings, etc. are automatically displayed in the Timeline.

If this mode is not active, the Individual Mode will be in effect. Items must then be placed into the Objects Area from the corresponding Manager per drag & drop. Only these items will then be shown. This means that the first time you switch to Individual Mode the Timeline will be empty until something is dragged into the Objects Area. If you press the Shift key while dragging and dropping items into the Objects Area all Child objects will be placed there as well.

When in Individual Mode, all objects displayed in the Timeline’s Objects Area can be moved via drag & drop or defined as children of other items without affecting the real internal object hierarchy.

For example, a blur track can be made a child of a material. This is practical if you want to synchronize both animations and they lie right next to each other. Only the display in the Timeline will be affected.
