Hi everyone,

I’m trying to use a TP preset call move on spline, hopefully I will get some particles align to my spline to add pyrocluster to make a smoke line
but the true is I never use xpresso so I’m a totally dumb on this.

Can’t even understand where to put my spline into all the xpresso conectcions. I add a pstorm so now i get particles but they don’t even move.

would love to have some help on this.

thank you very much

Hi MP,

You wrote that you are not familiar with XPresso, here is a simple Particle along the Spline set up, with PyroCluster.

Let me know if you like to work with the preset instead ;o)

All the best

Thanks for the nice feedback, MP!

Let me know if there is anything else.

Good luck with the project

Sassi, sorry to bother again. I couldn’t find a way to have two of this particles on same scene with different colors.
I google it, and tried to use tp groups, I manage to make 2 color on same scene using cubes as enviroment but they can’t mix.

just want to know if is that like that, so I don’t keep searching for something that will not happen.
thanks

Hi MP,

At this point I’m not certain what is exactly needed.

If you like to have two colors, create two Matrix objects, preferable with different settings, so the effect is not on the same position.

Create two TP groups, and apply group 1 to Matrix and to Particle Geometry.

Have on the second Matrix then Group 2 and for that another Particle Geometry, which will need as well Group 2. So both are nicely separated (Group1 and Group2)

If that was not the question—let me know what is needed. :o)

All the best

Sassi

Hi Sassi, sorry to bother with another question,
I achieved really great results and fast renders with this, thanks a lot.
but there is something I can’t make to work, I’m trying to use the distance effect so my pyrocluster change color as the particles goes far away from the initial position.
the gradient color instead of affect the color from start to finish of the spline is changing the color in the middle and looping one of the ends of the gradient. cant understand why

I attached a small example

Hi MP,

I have attached a file, please have a look. The colors will change the further they go away.

The MoGraph version and use of Thinking Particles has one limitation, as far as I know, the particles are created each frame newly—at least I never got any individual particle that I could adress in TP itself.

Well, the idea was to avoid TP as this would have been a learning curve.

Having said that, I hope this one works for you. I have set the gradient to “None” for the interpolation, for a better preview. Twirl down the triangle left sided from the gradient, there is an Alpha checkbox, as several of the gradients have an build in Alpha in Pyro Cluster.

Besides that I set up the particles to move, instead of stretch.

=====

There are different ways to get this done, for example without Pyroclusters and TParticles. Spheres with Fresnel for the edges and noise for the illusion of a little cloud, all perhaps in MoGraph.

Before I do anything else, please provide all needed qualities of your set up. If I had know the color requirements for Pyroclusters, I might have pushed the Thinking Particles option a little bit more ;o)

All the best

Sassi

Hi Sassi, I really appreciate your time! thank you so much.
first I didn’t know that those triangles have interpolation option on that menu. great to know!

I will study this two scenes and the difference you did with mine to try to understand how you make it work. and why mine didn’t

I understand what you are saying about doing it with just spheres with fresnel never thought of that, last year I did the same job and i bought a plugin call navie for doing it, but settings and render times are huge.
this TP thing is so powerful and fast to render I would love to learn more about this in the future

Anyway I will work on this examples you sent me. thank you so much!

You’re welcome, MP. Besides the Sphere or disc “sprite” solution, lights with no diffusion or specular, but visibility might work nicely as well. Motion-blur and DOF might help to get over the CG-Anitque look. ;o)
