Random colors on brick pavers

Hi, I’m struggling with creating a pattern of brick pavers with random colors. To create the pattern structure I ended up with nested cloners. How do I make each brick a random color if they are in nested cloners. A multishader on its own doesn’t do the job. Thanks if you can help!

Hi Randygeske,

Have a look to the attached file. I kept your pattern but I had to set it up newly.

I have set up a plane with a noise, to get an area with change.

This set up leaves an individual clone that takes the information where it is produced finally. To group things, e.g., under a Null might stop that.

I have used the Color Shader with a Colorizer, but the Multi-shader works as well, the Multi Shader needs to be set up for this as Mode>Color Brightness, if you like to give each “brick” a texture.

To expand the area of the clones, the two Cloner object on top can be set up just for that with a different “Count” number.

The plane with the noise can be switched invisible for the rendering, but the green arrow (active) is mandatory.

All the best

Sassi

P.S. if you rotate the first “block” you can create a similar (a little bit different) set up with only two cloners.

You’re welcome, Randygeske :o)

One note for teh set up, I placed first the Nulls under the Cloner, and used a certain distance, so each clone has a unique position. If all Null objects are at zero, based on the Cloner Object, which would work for the geometry, then there would be no color differentiation for the first group of bricks.
