Filling city streets with cars

Hello everyone, for a shot I am working on, I need to fill a city street with cars. Is there an easier way to do this than just manually placing every single car model on a spline that follows the street and animating the position with an align spline tag or is there an option/technique for moving multiple cars along the same spline at different positions simultaneously? Placing all cars in a null object and then animating that to follow a spline seems suboptimal as the cars couldnt take left or right turns and also the motion would look stupidly fake…xD
thanks in advance : )

Hi aedan.d,

I had discussed this in this clip
https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/jet_making_of/jet_making_of_part_14

But sadly, the connection is broken; I will check if it can be online soon.

In short, place the splines (keep the points on the spline as evenly distributed as possible, and use a Cloner object. All the cars are a child of the cloner, then use the Rate parameter. Perhaps have a little bit of a Random Effector working on it.

Here is the trailer with the effect.

All the best
