Hi. Im working on an animation and one of the texture (the grill) is flickering or “dancing” as the object moves.
I’ve had this problem in the past and figured the stick texture may fix it but that didn’t work.

Here is a test render of the animation:

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Joel H.,

You “Anti Alias” setting are to Geometry. Which means that you get only AA on the object edges (based on the camera view).

The animation is missing any Motion Blur.

There was a plug in in your scene, that I don’t use, no idea what that might cause as well. There you might get in contact with the creator/distributor of such.

All the best

Will change the AA settings, add motion blur and re-render and see if that fixes it.
The plugin is a reflective floor plugin, it should have no effect on the dancing grill.
Thanks for the help Dr. Sassi!

You’re welcome.

I have no idea how much that plug-in goes into the scene calculations and changes it. I use a different workflow for such tasks (as I like to stay native as long as possible).

Try the AA settings change first, not too high, as that can introduce another kind of flickering.

If that works, a little MB will give you a much more realistic result. As well here, the idea “a lot helps a lot” will not fit, nor lead to good results.

All the best
