Hi,

Is there a way to see the total live particles for the native emitter?
Like the same way with the Thinking Particle with the TP Settings Window

Thank you for looking at my problem.

Hi Ben,

Not by default.

Here is a setup. It shows the amount while the play button is in stop mode.
Project file

You can switch the Index off in the “Count Object” itself> Transform> Display.

The particles are shown as dots, as you asked for it in the other thread, here as an alternative.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi.

Thanks for the response.

Apologies for not being clear, I only need one value, hence the “The Total Live Particles”.
I’m trying to figure out a ballpark of how many particles I can do before the software chugs.

I can’t do the Transform>Display since it will draw for every number, hence slowing down the viewport eventually.
I was thinking of just dragging the emitter to the xPresso but it seems like it has no count output.

Is it still possible?

RE: The particles are shown as dots, as you asked for it in the other thread, here as an alternative.
They’re not dots per se, but cubes, which requires a little more processing power. I just need the dots like what the Thinking Particles can do.

Is it still possible?

Hi Ben,

The current number is in the name of the extra object.

The Index was just an option.

You can switch off the visibility of the cubes.

To test how far you can go, the drawing of the particles is important why? Please let me know why this needs to be in conjunction. I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers

P.S.:

https://help.maxon.net/us/#OPARTICLE-ID_PARTICLE?anchor=PARTICLEOBJECT_BIRTHEDITOR

The Birthrate is Limited to 1M/second per emitter. Perhaps that helps a little bit. Interestingly the counter stops quickly being useful. That’s new to me. Forget the counter for a stress test at all, as it puts too much extra stress on the machine, and do the math based on project time and Emitter settings.

Oh gotcha. I missed this one. Works as expected.

It affects the viewport playback. I’m only basing this knowledge with my xParticles experience but I could have a difference of up to 20FPS of dots vs other displays. That’s why I’m particular for it to be dots.

But no worries. Already solved in the other thread smile
