Place on groundplane - Product work (new user)...

Hi - I’m new to C4D coming from Modo.  I do a lot of product work and would like to create a quick keyboard shortcut for placing an item / object on the ground plane.  Any tips or advise on how to do this? Any scripts available that I can map a keyboard shortcut to?

Thanks

Also would love recommendations for any plugins / scripts / presets for VRay/Redshift that are good for product work (think product on no-seam with basic 3 point lighting).

There is a plugin from http://alphapixel.net/ called drop to floor: http://alphapixel.net/drop-to-floor/

Very helpful - thanks!  The Drop to Floor and Instant Floor plugins are great options

Hi carasonjones,

With the tools available, I would use this workflow, for very predictable (polygon based) placements:

Screen capture, one minute:

I used the Reset PSR here, which I dragged from the Customize Window into the interface.

The alternative to this, perhaps more intuitive:
Screen capture, one minute:

The Character> Commands> Project Object, works in a different way, but follows the camera view. Perhaps start with the Collide in the Default Settings (Menu, click on the Cogwheel)

The only other option would be Dynamics, besides coding, AFAIK.

Let me know if there is anything else, I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers
