animating between clones

Hello,

I have a dozen of cloned spheres; (cloned as a volume in Object mode inside a sphere..)
with a little movement from a random effector

now I want to animate another (or multiple) objects randomly between these spheres; (to visualize interaction between the spheres..)

Is this possible with Mograph?

(I tried it with the inheritance effector, but the problem is the the index numbers of the target are exactly the same… )

Thanks, Andreas.

Hi Andreas,

What kind of interaction do you have in mind? You could fill the volume with more spheres than you need, larger and smaller, and then defined every second as the interaction clone.

Perhaps share a scene file with the needed parts (please no inclusion of 3rd party items, thanks)

Perhaps this will help to kickstart a discussion:

Hi Dr. Sassi,

Here a scene-file and a screenshot.

I need to shoot some pulses randomly between the spheres… (like the arrows)

first I tried it with x-particles; but this was not a very stable system; when I chached the ainmation of the spheres I had to recalculate the whole simulation and some particles moved the wrong way…

Thanks, Andreas.

Thanks for the information, Andreas.

Please have a look at the file and screen capture (download the screen capture as well, it is better to watch this way)
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/eOEmJ0dqxMGRlqFFBgW7SAQVSqyq2tFgRybY5TdLplA

The idea is to use capsules as a way to define the space needed for each Sphere-Pair to have an unobstructed path to connect. This is shown in the first half of the screen capture. It produces a polygon object, to store that information.
The second part is about the travel of the sphere to the other one. It is done with a Blend in one Cloner Object and adjusted with a Plain Effector. This set up is then placed under another Cloner Object to get the positions of the “Volume” based clones.
With a Field (falloff) the Modify Clones effect can be animated precisely in time and space.

Simplified Alternative:
A simplified version would just double a single Sphere set up by copy and paste the Cloner Object. Then use a Random Effector to move the new spheres away from their current positions. With a Falloff in the Random Effector, the move to the original place can be established. Which gives the effect as if spheres move towards the initial spheres.

Let me know if there is any other question, I’m happy to look into it.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi,

That are two really interesting solutions. Thanks.

In fact I need a setup where interaction is between every sphere…
e.g. from p1 to p2, from p1 to p3, from p3 to p2, from p2 to p1 and so on… just every possible connection… and the same time the spheres are individual moving…

Your first setup looks very promising, I will try something with it..

Thanks again, Andreas.

You’re very welcome, Andreas, thanks for the kind feedback.

The movement is from one to the next, whereby the p1-n are the more stationary and the moving parts have a different designation; Is that correct? Then perhaps a Tracer could connect all ‘p’ named spheres, and the traveling sphere runs along the spline?
If all of that could be based on a Cloner set up, translated into a Tracer (Connect all Objects) made editable, the Spline could be deformed to allow for the overall movement.

Enjoy your explorations
