Rendering & Mac OS Energy Saver

It used to be that I could leave C4D rendering overnight and even though I had my Energy Saver System settings at 15 minutes, it would realize that C4D was rendering and would stay awake.

I’m not sure what version this changed in but it is annoying to have to turn off Energy Saver every time I have a render going and then turning it back on when there is nothing rendering.

I am on Mac Pro , 12 core. Running 10.8.5.  C4D R.15

Are there any settings on either the C4D or Mac OS side to get this back to a state where it the OS Automatically recognizes C4D rendering and won’t shut down?

Thanks

TAK

Hi TAK,

So far I know, this happens since a while, and not only to C4D renderings.

Perhaps this app:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/caffeine/id411246225?mt=12

is evidence enough (that it has a need to exist in the first place).

It will allow for a quick “switch”, so you have a computer in “Energy” mode, except you fill it up with “caffeine”.

Of course, I do not take any responsibility for this app, that is your decision.

Perhaps you make an input to MAXON, perhaps if enough people ask about, they might find a way to make it work to your liking.

All the best

Sassi

From the link above
Description
Caffeine is a tiny program that puts an icon in the right side of your menu bar. Click it to prevent your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. Click it again to go back. Right-click (or ⌘-click) the icon to show the menu.
Important: Caffeine lives in the MENU BAR, and this is where its state is indicated. App Store puts the Caffeine icon in the dock, but you can just remove it if you want to.

Thanks Doc

I am trying out Caffiene.  Looks like a cool little App.  So far it hasn’t crashed anything.

I will send a suggestion to Maxon.

Thanks

You’re welcome, TAK.

Thanks for the extra effort to create a suggestion!
