HI All I was wondering how I would go about:
A. Creating a waterfall
B. one where water falls around an object

See link for details:

Thank you so much for your time!

Hi Ben,

Typically this would be done with Particles, preferably with a system designated to Fluid-simulations. Two main options come to mind: Realflow for Cinema 4D of X-Particles. These have specific fluid solver and can create such simulations quickly.

In Cinema 4D, with native tools, you create a Particle Emitter and specify from there where you need some of the Colliders to have the bounce effect. A little bit of experimentation with the Volume Builder/Mesher might bring you a set further.
Here is a quick setup with TP, to give you an idea about:

Based on a different fluid question, I prepared this set up:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RbvEZmlMwE
Here I used MoGrpah Spheres with the particles and a Volume Builder/Mesher.

The Projection is typically made by measuring the location, either with just a few photos or via measurements. Then reproduce the practical location in Cinema 4D as geometry. Good knowledge about the projector and its lens is mandatory.

Let me know if there is something more specific, like an image from the location you like to do that.

All the best

P.S.: Here is a set up (sketch) with the Standard Emitter.

To have the Tracer work, the Dynamic has to be cached.

Enjoy

Hi Ben,

The Dynamic tag has all the cache options. In the file I have set, this was already done. It needs to be re-done in case of any change.

While the Dynamic Tag is selected: Attribute Manager> Cache.

Which Cinema 4D version is running on your computer?

All the best

Thank you very much for your reply, Ben, I was not aware of which version you use.

R19 has no Fields nor Volume.

If I get no information, I assume R20 Studio.

I have to take a look into that with R19, but please let me know which version of R19 do you have?

All the best

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the information. Just in case anyone else wants to follow, I re-arranged the sketch from above and tested it even in R18/Studio.

Project file, Screencapture
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/D4tqde7KKoQGrNGP6UqoA8spfruniAjzc2mYeAeIkI2

The idea is to use motion blur to get as close as possible to the effect of the water. The appearance of water is mainly based on light, either as reflection or refraction. Water itself without anything else (outside information) will be invisible, including air bubbles, etc. The idea is, to mimic this as much as possible. The Reflection and Refraction part is excluded, as with Sub-Frame Motion Blur, that will be a longer render. Decide for yourself if the render time wouldn’t be an obstacle.

Please note that the Camera settings will have a massive impact on the results. Try 1/4 sec or even other times as well.

I’m aware that this is more a sketch than a perfect simulation, but I tried to keep it simple.

ENJOY
