Hello,

I can’t find a simple thing (I guess) : I would like to delete a motion clip I have made without losing all the animation keyframes.

Of course I created it without un-checking “Remove Included Animation from Original Object”…

Is there a way to recover my original animation ?

I made the motion clip on a whole hierarchy that I need to edit.

many thanx.

Jérôme

Hi Jérôme,

In the Timeline>Motion Menu:

(From the Help Content)
Convert Layer to Keyframe Animation
Converts animations back to keyframe animations. The keyframes will be created for the object hierarchy controlled by the Motion System tag. A key will be created for each frame of animation. This command can be used if you subsequently want to modify an object hierarchy for which you have already created a Motion Source. Your Motion Source will be converted back to a keyframe animation. After making modifications you can create a new Motion Source for the animation.
If no Motion Layers are selected, this command will not be made available.

I hope that will give you what you want.

Alternative, you might have enabled “autosave”, this will have stored your information (if set up accordingly) you should find the data as well.

All the best

Hey Jérôme,

You’re welcome and thanks for the feedback.

You wrote “I was fearing this a bit.”, which made me think, isn’t it working for him? It should give you the data in the way you like back.
In fact the keyframes were never gone, only wrapped into a clip. Yes, it is that simple. If you go to you clip in the time line, do a “RMC” (right mouse click) on that clip. Then select the option a shown in the image that I ahve attached.

All is there, but only named differently. You could even copy and paste these keyframes.

All the best

It is working, but Baking for each frame is quite a difficult solution when dealing with lots of movements.

That’s where the frustration comes, the “show in key mode” let me think I could recover the keys.

I guess the “Remove Included Animation from Original Object” when creating the motion clip should be the default setting.

many thanx.

When you write this data back, it writes it frame by frame, as the clip has been adjusted perhaps. There comes the “bake” into the game. I understand, you would like to have the keys back as they were before that.

Have a hierarchy as the one you use. Set for everything a keyframe on frame zero (or the first in your project) that should receive keys. Then copy from the clip in “key view”, and past it to the “new” hierarchy. Should work in on step.

At any time, you need to have the time slider on the first available frame, during this procedure!

Best :o)

Good Luck, and perhaps you might consider to create a suggestion, to have the data written back as “recorded”. Would be a nice feature.
