Visual Selector problem from R12 to R14

I am having an issue with some models that I downloaded from Cineversity that I show for a class. The visual selector (which worked fine in R12) is not showing up properly. When I double click on the visual selector tag in my object menu, the window comes up, but no bones or image show up.

Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Can you please let us know which files / videos are affected.
That would really help in fixing your problem.

It is not hard to update the files, like was done here: http://www.cineversity.com/forums/viewthread/840/
But we need to know what files you need.

All of the files that use the Flour Sack (like the pose-to-pose) and the one with the character used in the 12 principles slideshow. Hope that helps!

Thank you for the heads up. I’ll start going through those today.

Phew. I will have to do R13 Versions anyway, but at least I can send stuff off a little faster.
Still working through them, not all the videos in that series use the VS, and when there is a video with VS it is usually several projects…so it is taking some time to go through them.

Here are the majority of the affected files.

A few, such as those in the “arcs” series, still need to be fixed (not related to Visual Selector).
There are also some files in the exaggeration series that need more work (that said, the main file you need “guyemotion” does work, and will allow you to follow along with the series.)

All converted files will have _R14 appended to them.

I am currently hosting on my dropbox, but will push them live to the site barring further issues.
Let me know if you have any trouble with these.

Thanks!! I really appreciate it. You may also want to let the people at Maxon know that some of their example files in their content browser also suffer from this issue.

As I do not work for MAXON gmbh, you will want to let them know about the issues yourself. :D You will need to submit a bug report for the content in question via the MAXON website.

I have no control or input over the content that is released with CINEMA 4D.
Be sure to let them know the files that are affected.

Also, there likely won’t be a fix for those soon, as it would require downloading the WHOLE content library again.
So let them know, but also know that changes won’t come fast.

The best option would be to rebuild the VS for the files in question, then distribute those to students or anyone that you need to have access to the files.

Generally all you need to do to fix a file is load in a new background image into the visual selector.
All the hot spots are still there…they just need to be re-positioned.
