How do I render cinema 4d fur with redshift?

Hello,

I know rendering c4d hair object with redshift is very easy and straightforward. When using the fur it’s not showing up in redshift render view. Redshift tag doesn’t even have the curve tab available for fur. I couldn’t find anything about this topic anywhere, every tutorial out there is how to render hair not fur. The reason I’m using fur and not hair is the option to use vertex maps to grow the fur.

I appreciate any help. thanks!

Hi ginz001,

Do you have problems accessing the new forum?

This forum here is not supported anymore.

Here is a file on how hair can grow in length. I just animated the length parameter in the Hair Material. This can be taken over by the RS material.

It is possible to use only the Hair Material, but check the render time on your machine with the Hair or both materials.

See you in the new forum; a link is below.

All the best

Thanks so much for the reply Dr. Sassi!

Sorry, I will use the new cineversity forum. Thanks for sharing the file but I wanted to use vertex maps to control the spread and growth of the hairs not just the length, It is possible using the fur with animated vertex growth. Thanks for confirming Cinema 4D fur is not supported by Redshift. I thought the issue was on my end.

Hi ginz001,
You’re very welcome.

Here is a baked version. Vertex Grow is unstable, as it builds up frame by frame. I baked this quickly in the Standard Render. I used an mp4 to keep the example small. It should be a linear file as it is pure data, not image data for production.
Preview included.

I do not have confirmed what is possible with Fur. Perhaps there is a way, but I’m not aware of it, nor is the documentation.

No sorry needed, but if there is anything else, please not here. Thanks.

Enjoy.
