Greetings,

I need help understanding the values returned by the Object Information window. I have an single object mesh exported (FBX) from one application (the one with 746KB). If I import it into Blender and export it (FBX) it becomes the one with 1453KB. The window indicates the same number of points and polygons but the window shows 0 (1453KB). I’m trying to understand what this window is telling me with the extra values in parenthesis and how an object with the same number of polygons and points uses twice the memory. I’m using Cinema 4D V21. I’m try to put a question together for the Blender forum om why the point index values have been shifted.

Bruce.

Hi brucek5,

If you share only an image, I think I can’t really add anything more than the manual states:
https://help.maxon.net/c4d/r21/us/index.html#5746
Scroll down.

This command displays the following information about the selected object (including its children): size in KB, number of points, number of polygons and number of objects. If you see figures in brackets, these are the number of points and polygons that will be created if you make the object and its children editable.

Cheers

Hi Dr. Sassi,

Actually you answered my question. I tried using the Cinema 4D Help by searching for “Object Information” based on the command name when right clicking on an object (didn’t know it was in the Object Menu too). The help search returned 2959 finds and I couldn’t find a match. Not sure if there’s a way to have help return closest matches first… I also just learned if you have an object under another object, this information box can miss-lead me as the object was already editable. Once I moved the object with the larger memory value where it wasn’t under anything, I now get the same results.

Thanks, issue closed.
