Textures aren’t in render view…

In this scene I have a tunnel with a brick texture. When looking through it with the render view, the textures are not present. This is the first time I’ve encountered a situation like this.
I’ve linked the file below. Thanks in advance and I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend.
Cheers!!

Hi Richard,

With Tunnel, you have the “Bridge 2” in mind? … or “Spline”?

Go to Main Menu> Window> Project Asset Inspector.

In the file that I have (downloaded [twice to be sure] only 17.1MB, but Google tells me 56MB?) I found only five images.

Please let me know if reconnecting the textures helped. If not, tell me what the Tunnel object is. If it is the “Spline” polygon object, click on the Normal Tag and swap the Normals. That might give you a clue but not a solution. Here is a quick replacement; it needs more attention for the UV part.
Let me know if that works at all; when I have your Brick texture, I will refine it.

Enjoy your weekend

Hey Dr. Sassi,
It’s actually in the “Sketch Up” Null that contains the object “Spline” which is the tunnel. The literal spline in that null can be deleted, it still gives the same render view problem. As for the texture itself, it’s from the Asset Browser, Brick Wall 01.

The bridge I haven’t assigned a texture to it yet. I’m slightly worried it’ll have the same issue if I did.

I see the missing texture files from what I sent you and I find it weird…I loaded the original scene itself and everything checks out; no missing textures, same render problem.

On a separate note, I found a glitch/bug when applying a Concrete 10 texture (Asset Browser) to Bridge 2; holding alt to overwrite the original texture. It freezes the view port. I had to use Ctrl + Z to undo the freeze. I made a video showing and explaining it and am providing the file with assets. This one is cleaned up more and shouldn’t have those missing texture problems from before.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for using Google, the information, and the files!

As with the Tunnel, the model is just not really OK. The Bridge has a large N-Gon in it.

The “Spline” polygon object was doable in a few minutes, including improving the UV.

The Bridge would take maybe 5-10 minutes to build, with a clean mesh. With no problems.

Take the concrete material while the (white) material tag on the Bridge is set to anything other than UV. No problems, right? So the freeze that you notice is the application trying to figure out how to solve the N-Gon into UV data. N-Gons are great DURING modeling but not really that great after that.

Let me know if you need that Bridge as a file. I can set it up for you; it is really a simple one. Think of modeling half of the arc, then use a Symmetry, then Clone. Make it editable if needed.

All the best

Hi Richard,

Here are the two files back, the tunnel as well as the bridge.

I have set up the Concrete material newly, as it certainly contributed to the problem.

I hope these two files will support your project.

Have a nice evening

Dr Sassi,
Thank you very much for those 2 files and taking care of the N-gons problems/materials for me. I’m also very thankful for you putting the lights in the scene as well.

The long bridge itself I got from the Asset Browser:

Objects > outdoor objects > Buildings > Misc > Bridge 02

Attempting to create that arc seemed rather difficult to do. I tried the Disc object with a few different tweaks to create that tunnel arc. I couldn’t figure out a way to mimic the curve. I even tried Boole to get the correct shape from a Plane object and that didn’t work at all. Perhaps I was thinking about it too much and therein lies a way simpler than I’m making it out to be?

Cheers!

Thanks a lot, Richard.

Here is a tiny little screen capture. However, it shows the essential steps.

I haven’t seen the bridge in the Browser; I’m curious on which toes I have stepped with that. (…story of my life!) Well, several of my six degrees are in construction and architecture, so I’m undoubtedly picky about models. Yes, I’m not easy to please here. wink However, there is a pleasure in a good model, to see the flow of polygons, the symmetry, and (well) elegance, if you will.

I use the Extrude Tool here, M~T.

You might add the Bevel to some areas, but since I limit myself for years to a single minute, that must do.

Example clip #1225 (I replaced the previous one)
