Do I have the ability to rename channel names on my ends in C4d to avoid the conflict?

Good question/idea. If so, I would have changed that. While clicking on the node that feeds each layer of the Material, then in the Information panel on the lower left shows, that this name is based on the ID. This ID is part of the system to be able to update and avoiding conflicts. Yes, it sounds weird, but I have no information that a “pipe” | is used.

Of course, since each node has this unique ID, if you don’t like one ID, delete and call up a new one.

I hope my sending out reports will show some results.

P.S.: Here is a workaround, and I tested it with Ae2020 (r17) and your file from frame 0025.

It needs a short hack of the preferences and the ProEXR plugin installed. Make sure you move the older ProEXR parts out; otherwise, it will perhaps cause trouble.

Since this is all in a folder and just referenced files, perhaps that works equally comfortable as the EXtractoR.

As a nice side-effect, it creates a contact sheet automatically.
