Hello,

C4D beginner here. Ive imported a model (aluminum drink can, .dae file) and when I try to apply an aluminum material from the C4D presets it will show up in viewport but not when I render. The part of the model that I apply the material to renders as black. Not sure what I’m missing here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi jon-michael.jackson,

The refections that you see is based on preview settings. To have your own environment for these reflections, you can set up a Sky object and place a texture on it. You will find textures in the Content Browser [if installed. If not: Main Menu> Help> Check for Updates…].

Content Browser: Type into the search bar hdr and drag one of the textures into the material>Luminance channel>texture.

You can also use the Physical Sky.

I have created a screen capture for you.

Let me know if that works, otherwise, please share your project file, it must be zipped.

As a side note, the Environment Channel in the material allows for that as well, but it is typically only used when really needed, as it is limited.

All the best
