Making Reference Out from an Animated File?

Hi,

Normally, you’d have a rig file. Then another file, let’s say an anim file, where the animation happens and rig file is referenced (through Xref).

My current problem is the animation has been done in the rig file, which should be not. Is there a way I can create a reference (Xref) of that file and maintain the animation?

So something like this

Before
1) Rig file (with animation)

After
2) Rig file (no animation)
3) Anim File (with animation and rig file referenced)

Regards,
Ben

Hi Ben,

You can XRef[erence] a file one time with and one time without animation enabled. Then take the Animation System and produce a clip with the animated version and supply that to the rig version.

Besides that:
Why not create a copy and sort the two files into what you need?

Since I have no further information about your way of transferring the animation from Ani to Rig, that is all I can say without guessing.

Cheers

Gotcha. Motion Clip might be the way to go.
I thought the motion clip was strict about the naming, but I guess it’s only strict about hierarchy.

Thanks for the suggestion.
