Specify before and after frames in Animation Path?

Hi,

Is there a way to specify before and after frames in Animation Path?

Currently, they appear on the whole timeline, which muddies the whole viewport and downright unusable.
I just want it for like 30 frames before and after the play head.

Is this possible?

Hi Ben,

Set the Preview-Range to the amount of data you are working on, and the Animation Path will be limited to that area.

This allows for a swift adjustment of the length, as keyframes might not always be in a fixed range.

An absolute/numerical before and after is not described in the manual.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi.

Thanks for the confirmation “the Preview-Range” still doesn’t work on me since I have keyframes on slightly in the same place.
I need the “before” and “after”.

Anyhow, thanks again.

Hi Ben,

The before and after is what the Preview range does. It needs perhaps to be moved, so the time-slider is in the middle of the current preview range. The before and after, like 30 frames +/- would not be different at all then, given a 60 frames preview range.

Cheers

Sorry for being unclear. For instance, if the preview range is 150 - 200. I need the before and after to be only 5 frames or so.
I cannot make the preview range only 160-170 as I can’t preview the animation properly.

Ben,

If you open the Timeline (Dope or F-Curve), you can use this to move the time across the whole Project time.

In case this is not working for you:
You have to make a suggestion.

I really want to give every one what is needed and wanted, but I sadly have not the power to go beyond what is offered right now.

My best wishes

No worries. It’s not necessarily a deal breaker but it would be nice to have as you can surmise in my use case.
Have a great day ahead!

Ben,

My mantra is, for long, make it happen, but keep it as an option (Checkbox).

We all have a different way of thinking, creating, and processing. To find common ground, with options, without having a preference list like the New York City telephone-book is undoubtedly a target of Maxon and all people involved, so far, I can tell.

Is everything as I like to have it? wink

But I can see the other side of the argument more often than not. In the past three-plus decades using a computer for the creative part of my life, I have seen more improvements than not. Perhaps that is a perspective that makes me going despite what I have to deal with.
As you wrote, it is not a deal-breaker. Not ideal, but on end, you get it done anyway. Perhaps things continue to get better, and the suggestions will help to stay on course.

Again, thanks for investing time to make progress.

ENJOY
