Female Clothed Right Thumb Pose Issues

In R21, I’m attempting to pose fingers/thumbs of the “Female Clothed” rigged character as found in the Content Browser.

For the left hand, the thumb and all fingers worked OK.  For the right hand, all the fingers are OK (I could use the same exact pose control values to mirror the left side).  However, the thumb leads to a really distorted look.

Specifically, I’m just adjusting three values for the thumb: Scrunch of 15, Seg1 of 50 and Seg2 of 70.

I’ve tried analyzing the various tags between the left and right thumbs, but cannot find anything obviously wrong.

Other things I’ve tried… In my project, I had posed the arms such that the hands were palm up.  Thinking that may have caused the issue, I created a brand new project, loaded the “Female Clothed” character, then only tried to pose the right thumb.  Same exact issues.

Anyone know of any workaround?  Or, how would I go about troubleshooting this to ensure the right thumb works as the left thumb?

Thank you.

Hi Ricky Sharp,

When you shift-click on the Arm> Weight tag, you will see that the Thumb Joints for the left and the right hand are not the same. The Tip of the Right Hand should be without any weight, but it takes over what the Mid joint should do and so on.

Your idea to “Mirror Y-Z”, “+ to -” will work.

Sorry about the trouble.

Cheers

You’re the best, Dr. Sassi!

I was able to bring up the Weight Manager for the Arms, filter the joint list with “Thumb”, then performed a Copy command with “Mirror + To -”.  All is now well.

Thanks for the feedback, Ricky Sharp, very kind of you.

I’m glad it works for you. Thank you, for pointing out the problem!

I hope the next update will have this fixed, I have written a report.

The over all weight for each point needs to be exact 100%, it should work fine, but check anyway.

ENJOY!

P.S.: For anyone who needs just a quick fix until it is updated in the application, you can load the weight-txt into the Weight-Manger (Arm Weight Tag.)

Here is a one-minute screen capture and the txt file:
