Hi,

I’m trying to follow this tutorial where it uses the selection tag writer - xpresso preset.
The section I am referring to is at 6:50.

However, the author didn’t discuss the set-up and as such, it was hard to follow.

Just wondering, is there an existing set-up file for the selection tag writer in the selection tag writer?
I tried searching for “Xpresso Preset” but the only thing that is relevant is from a decade ago and it’s not the selection tag writer.

Thank you for looking at my problem

Hi bentraje,

At 6:50, it is the Invert Preset. But you refer to the Selection Tag Writer.

Here is an example of the Selection Tag Writer:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/7uGHJVehb0Xh4yd9pJjpz7w1Mj3kYXnpx1VVJXsFWbR

I used the Collision Node to produce a relation to the Plane object.

It needs an Iteration to go through the index numbers. Compares those and sets then if equal a selection entry, or tells no selection for all others. Move the Null in X and Z to see the effect.

However, I would consider it kind of outdated, as this can be done now with Fields so much faster. If needed, it is good to have, of course.

All the best

RE: 6:50
Apologies for the confusion. I meant somewhere around 5:50 mark.

RE: Selection Tag Writer
Thanks for the file. That’s indeed an interesting set-up.
But is there a way to have the same as in the video referred above?

Basically, in the set-up above, the selection is based on the orientation of the object.
The video will probably show it better. It’s specifically around 5:43 mark.

Sorry for the trouble and thank you for looking at it.

Hi Ben,

You need to contact the author of the tutorial for a file. His website is given below the tutorial.

Perhaps he shares the files. I can’t see even his complete setup (Yes, I can see the nodes, but that is only half of the story). As usual, I like scene files, the visual representation of anything gives me more often than not: Nothing really to work with. Perhaps I would solve it even differently these days. Especially since we have fields.
Example: What is the set up in one of his compare nodes, and perhaps all the other nodes, what is really set up?

Good Luck

Hi Dr. Sassi.

Gotcha. No worries. The author doesn’t actually have a website but he seems to be active on twitter.
Just sent him a tweet. Hoping for the best.

Thanks for the assist.
