How to implement a redundant parameter like in Character Object?

Hi,

I want to implement a redundant parameters feature (like in Character Object) on my own rig (i.e. not character object) How to create parameters that are present to different controls and update simultaneously?

You can see an illustration of the problem in attached file.

Is this possible with a native tag, xpreso or through python?

Is there a way around this?
Thank you

P.S. I’m not looking to add a custom user data but rather a redundant custom user data/parameter.

Hi Ben,

There is perhaps something possible with Python, as mentioned before, I do not handle this here.

I have no knowledge about anything that would allow for context sensitive User Data. The only thing that comes to mind is anything that is used as HUD, and is set to be only in the view when the object is active.

I fear I have to say it again: Suggestion form. Sorry, …broken record.

Hi Dr. Sassi,

No worries. It’s actually reassuring for the confirmation that it can’t be done natively.
At least I know I am not missing anything.

Thank you again!

Thanks for the feedback, Ben.

Of course, it is way more fun point out things that are available or even to find solutions for a given task, than to discuss limitations.

There is always something that might trigger new ideas, workarounds, and what not. I’m confident that no-one knows everything, especially with 3D application that large. At least since I started over a quarter century ago, I haven’t met anyone who does. (The larger the island of knowledge, the longer the beach of questions… )

Two of those options that could be a starting point for more contextual information might be the “Mouse Interaction Tag” or the “Visual Selector”. This is more a gut feeling, so toss it if it doesn’t indicate. But we never know what idea we might have the next day, based on some random input.
