Hi,

Is it possible to use the objects in the Selection Object in the Xpresso?
You can see an illustration of the problem here:

You can see a sample file here:

Thank you for looking at my problem.

Hi Ben,

Here is a file that retrieves the information from the Selection Object.
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/k3pOgJCgdILGQYgL9m6m6o3y3t8m1xRlBQjQ5fAht7d

You need to use a Link List Node to get the List and while the Link List Node is selected go to the Attribute Manager, and drag the little cogwheel icon (left upper) into the Xpresso Editor, this gives you some more options.

The Link List provides then, based on the Index number,  the object. To get a specific object out, a Constant Node can be used, or the parameter of the node itself can be used. For clarity, I suggest the Constant, but both options work. I used here the position information as evidence that it works.

Anything Python, please check with the Developer Forum. I don’t have the resources to do that in the way it can be done there.

Hi Dr. Sassi,

Thanks for the response. It works as expected although the set-up is a bit weird at a first glance.
Attach is also another solution offered by jed from C4DCafe in a python set-up. I didn’t cross post. He just messaged me smile

Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply, Ben.

Yes, the extra node “Copy” is kind of weird, I wish the nodes had all possibilities at once.

As I mentioned before, I do not open rar files.

All the best

P.S. Please stop putting [solved] in the head lines. It makes the whole forum look like otherwise unsolved. This impression is not wanted. Thanks.

RE:[SOLVED]

Sure sure. I initially thought it was helpful for archiving and it was implemented in other modern forums even in the C4D plugincafe forum
Anyhow, I will refrain from using it.

Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks a lot, Ben.

Besides that, it is not used, nor any other user has done it since 2006, the problem with labeled as being solved means, that should be either true for any circumstances or other versions. Which I won’t check (Five different packages and many releases while available on various platforms, graphics cards, etc.). Many people use R18 or R19 at the moment, not everyone will use R20 currently, or even the latest update. (Project freeze, etc.)

It also means that it needs to be 100% checked on any system and configuration, to deserve the label solved: Will not happen.

One more, but indeed not the last point, it will shut people up, when it is marked as solved, to ask a follow-up question.

So, if solved would be 100% true for any and all cases, then it could work, and if everyone would use it, and then I would close the thread because it is solved. Sounds not really appealing to me.

I see no advantage in it, nor do I think that it is modern.

Thanks for being so comfortable with it.

Cheers
