BodyPaint layers and textures

Hello

I don’t have a project file for this yet as it is something I’m trying to understand how to do.  I have a texture with UV coords I’m working on in BodyPaint. In the color channel I have a bitmap.  I want to create a new layer in Bodypaint that I would like to also import a bitmap in and overlay on top of the other bitmap using the BodyPaint paint tools.  This is to avoid round tripping with Photoshop.
What I can’t figure is how to add a layer with it’s own bitmap without creating a new material?

I hope this makes sense!

thanks!

Actually I think I found one answer, which is to open a texture in PSD and copy/paste it to a layer.  This seems to work, but seems like an odd workflow?

Hi Alex,

I think the simplest way to explain it is via a clip.

Have a look here:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/xiEf2xBwyo6ofTJFdP4IBIXDYzGv9hdEnB9ZWEbIC6Y

I show how to add a new layer, as well as (independent from it) how to add a new image as a layer.

Please note that this is is only in memory, not saved. Saving is up to the artist in charge.

All the best

Ah I see!  Thanks for that explanation.  Somehow I always put myself in the BP UV Edit mode, and the layer system appears quite differently.  This is perfect.

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, Alex.

I’m glad it works as you like. I wish there would be ‘Placeā€¦” command, but it works fine here without.

My best wishes for your project!
