FBX export problem

Hello!

I’m having an issue with FBX export from a joint animation.  Here is the c4d file.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/nqw13vou9ecqme2/DebugFBX.c4d?dl=0

You can see that the original file has an animation on the joints that works well.  The FBX version goes a bit crazy towards the end, as if the scale was going in the wrong direction…This came from a regular export to FBX, here are the settings

What could be causing this?

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

Weird, I posted an answer, and it is gone. So here we go again.

Please use the (Position or) Length to get your animation done. When it needs to shrink to nothing, start with a scale of the Group Null that holds both, the joints and the object. Start with 1.0 and end at 0.01.

I tested in Unity, and it arrives there safely.

Cheers

Hi Alex,

Don’t Scale joints. It might work fine while each has an overwriting keyframe; But when it is exported, all these scales accumulate.

Use either Position (which might create trouble with rotation!) or the Joint> Object> Length, the latter is the way to go.

All the best

Hmm, length doesn’t work for what I’m tryng to do.
My goal is the have the geometry scale to nothing once it is done “curling” on itself…Can you recommend a different way to do it?

Thanks!

Things are normal again, sorry for the noise, I will clean up later.

Please note that some answers are not in a timely order.

You’re very welcome, Alex.

I think it’s time for me to get more Unity knowledge.

Cheers
