Dynamics on falling character

Hello

I have a character rigged from Mixamo.com, a simple T-Pose, no animation.  I would like to have the character fall and have a “ragdoll” type effect as it hits the floor.
Can I do that with an existing rig or do I have to build the whole ragdoll setup?

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

Here is the simplest way I can think of. I placed some points on a Linear (no intermediate points!) spline to get the seams for a rag doll.
The Voronoi Fracture sets “cuts” always in the middle of two points, so that is maybe a minute of adjustments.

Inside of the Voronoi Fracture, one can set a link to just a Rag Doll Connector and it connects all parts with it, each time!

Then a simple Dynamics set up and the scene is ready.

Note that I have used just nothing but the body mesh, no skin, no joints, etc.

ENJOY

Wow, great technique!
So using the existing rig is not straightforward I assume?
This is really great, much better than having to place all the ragdoll connectors!

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, Alex.

Yes, I thought about doing something with the joints, but even cleaning them up was to much to do; Cleaning up as in getting rid of all the tiny joints. There is a total of 67 joints.

The other idea was to create a dynamic set up, where the main parts are just cubes and those are connected… Which would be doable, and then feed some joints the information.

Lots of options, but this was quickly done, and easy to adjust, i.e., pure fun.

My best wishes for your project.
