Hey guys,
is it possible that the all new media core doesnt recognize HEVC/hvc1/h.265 files? (in the motion tracker for example)
Or do I have to download a codec and install it somehow…
After Effects however, recognizes it as expected!
Thx for every hint smile
Cheers

Hi Remo_G,

Please try the following:

Load your footage (as well the lens Profile), and select the Motion Tracker icon in the Object Manager, then click on the lock in the Attribute Manger, to keep the Motion Tracker in the Attribute Manager.

Alternative: Try to create a Background object from within the Motion Tracker.

Now, go back to the Object Manager, select Motion tracker and its child, the camera, you should be able to see the movie now. (I checked it a few minutes ago, with several DJI h.265 footage, on Mac.High Sierra)
Note that Adobe plays h.265 since longer from its own de-coder, at least in my experience and in my set up. I can’t tell more.

If all of that is not working, please convert for now for tracking and get in contact with the Support.

To my knowledge the h.265 is not part of the new media core. I made my input (wish) long ago about that. So, more I can’t do.
What you can do is to ask the Support. The more people go that route or suggest to take care of that, the better.

Please state clearly, if you need 8bit.ch or 10 bit.ch (per channel, and if you prefer SDR or “HDR”, thank you.

All the best

Man….do you ever sleep..smile?!
No matter what time I post something here, you answer pretty much immediately..:D
THANKS!

I think I will have to play it out as mp4/h264 for easiest workflow….but still….its one step more and its a shame since h265 will be the next standard…

Cheers

Thank you, Remo_G!

Yes, I sleep, here and there, but I certainly have a sound on my e-mail, which indicates that there is a new CV-post. grin I know how it feels to be stopped in the middle of a project.

How long was the footage, perhaps your system needs a moment, what does the cache of the Motion Tracker tells you?

I assume that my two tips, selecting Camera or creating a Background object wasn’t working. That’s sad.
Yes, I know, and h.264 is only half as good, either size or quality wise. I also had artifacts from the Adobe Media Encoder [Mc] from h.265 to h.264. I haven’t even tried this year the Mc …

I hope this extra step for now doesn’t take too much effort. Anyway, check with the support, the more people ask for it to higher up it goes on the Wish List. wink

Enjoy your project.

P.S.: What happens when you uncheck the Motion Tracker>> Attribute Manager> Footage> Keep In Foreground.

Yes it should work the other way around, but diving deeper into it, this might be a problem currently.

I added a question in #3, what does the Cache says?

Cheers
