Hi there,
I’m not smart enough to finetune the individual folding speed of my packaging design.
Im various tutorials is said you can use the variation slider, which is not existing in the R18 preset,
while the r17 preset was buggy. The flaps are not reacting to whatever I do to the splines various
splines in the guides user data.

Please enlight a blind artist.

Thanks
Mark

P.S.: “Fold my design” search on this site didnt lead to a cineversity tutorial

Hi Mark,

I’m not certain what is going wrong on your side. I downloaded the latest Content Package for R18, (hence my late reply) and checked both R17 and R18.
I created each time a little three spline based “design” and it worked flawless.
The Variation Slider was in both cases available.

Since this is not a Cineversity Tool nor based on a tutorial of CV, my main idea for the next step is:

https://www.maxon.net/en-us/support/how-can-we-help/

Please check with the support, why the “Fold My Design” doesn’t have all the options in R18, I hope that leads to a fix on your side.
So you can hopefully work with it as you would like to.

I’m not aware what information source you are using. Jus the text in the “Annotation Tags” or this:

https://help.maxon.net/#54304

The Spline interface is like a graph, left lower corner equals zero time and “Progress” as in Animation, and the Upper right corner stand for the final state in time and animation. You know that of course, but I like to make certain that this is the base for any follow up question.

My best wishes

Hi Sassi,
big thanks for your fast reply, I was using the same help-source you linked, However I was maybe misunderstanding sth.
There seems no possibility to finetune individual folding speed, one can only “speedcurve” the folding of all components as one, right?
I was searching for animation curves of the individual components, like selecting guide 3 and adjusting only its speed curve.
If thats possible I’m not smart enough to find and make it happen.

Hi Mark,

Please have a look at this one minute clip.

I hope it show-cases a little bit how the “spline-interface” works in this case.

The Animation goes from 0-100%. This is “mapped” to the spline. IF something speeds up, something else slows down. Back and fore, speeds it even more up.
