Hi
I’m trying to replicate a technique in this presentation:
NAB 2015 Rewind - Brett Morris, Capacity: Abstract Animation with Simple Deformations
At around 38’00’’ he deforms a sphere using a plain effector with a matrix object as a source falloff. I can’t get this to work as he describes. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi bob_walmsley,

I have no data from him. My tip for your scene use the position Z as well, and the Fall-Off in the Plain Effector.

Testing this target, I found to do it for this case, the Displacer would work here much better. See file “…_01” Switch on/off the other “deformers” for comparison

I have tweak your file a little bit, see file “…_11”

All the best

Hi Dr Sassi
Thanks so much for your quick response. I’m away from my workstation right now, but as soon as I’m back I’ll check out the files. Thanks again! B

You’re a star Dr Sassi!
Your Z position advice was spot on. I was trying to do it with scale using Poly deformation. Z position and point deformation is what I needed. Thanks again! I’ll post my test scenes once they’re done for your reference.
