Cinema 4D to Vectorworks - Trouble with Textures on Rounded Objects

When I export a round table top file from Vectorworks and open it in Cinema 4D the wood grain texture I apply to it appears as a spiral vs just going straight across the table top. The texture is fine because I tried it on rectangular table tops and it works great.

Does Anyone know how I can easily change the object so the texture won’t create a spiral effect on the object.

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

Please share the file that you like to open in Cinema 4D.
(Please already exported from Vector Works, if possible)
I’m happy to look into it.

All the best

It wouldn’t let me attach the Cinema 4D file. I don’t know if I was doing something wrong. Here is a dropbox link to the file.

Hi Mike,

Scene files need to be in “Zip”, but thanks for going instantly to Dropbox.
I do not had the texture, so I included one close to it.

The texture-projection is set to “Spherical”, which might be great in some cases, but not for this object.

You can see the projection method visually represented by the yellow grid.

My suggestion here, use Cubic as projection.

Then use the “Fit to object”, perhaps make further adjustments for the size.

.

I have made a one minute clip to showcase the steps. I hope that is the fastest way to get you going.

Here is the one-minute-texture-crash-course. You can download it:

Let me know if there is another question.

(BTW, to safe a file with texture use the File>Safe Project with Assets…)

My best wishes
