C4D -> VizRt Live Link Plugin

Howdy,

I do realize going in that this is really more a question for the folks at VizRt, and I have submitted a question to their forum too.  But, when seeking for answers as when fishing, casting multiple lines increases one’s chance for success.  So, with that in mind, here goes.

VizRt recently released 3.7 of their Artist software, which has Cinema 4D integration.  This comes in 2 flavors.  There is the C4D importer, which is awesome and works a treat, and then there is the Live-Link, which allows for a scene opened both in Cinema and Viz to interact… One can change the scene in Cinema, and the the corresponding scene updates in realtime in Viz.  This is accomplished with a plugin for Cinema 4D which adds a Viz Tag that can be applied to an object in the object manger which communicates with Viz.

I have this plugin installed in Cinema, but it is not showing up…  Has anyone here any knowledge of this plugin who might be able to help me troubleshoot what is failing on the C4D end of this bridge?

Thanks in advance,
- Willie

Hi Will,

I do not have any experience with it, just to create no expectations. :o)

Edit: it seems like the “bridge” is more a Tag than a plug in for C4D/edit

In the link below you find a short little video, which shows how the “On Air” bridge works, if that is what you like to achieve. At 2:20 you get your instructions. If that is what you like to do.

Background information for people seeking more information about it.

and

I guess this should work. If not:

The question might be, is the plug in you have for the release of CINEMA 4D that you currently use?

The next step is certainly to get in contact with the support

Have a nice weekend

Well, for anyone who stumbles across this thread in the future with a similar question, I believe I have found the solution.  Though not documented, the 2 files in the ‘fix’ folder need to be moved to C4D’s muddles->python folder.  First take the file that exists in that location and put it somewhere safe.  You will create a crash is you leave it in place with these 2 you are bringing in.

Cheers

Thanks, Will. I hope that will support others.

Perhaps you give the VizRt team an e-mail, so they get more information to everyone from the start.

All the best

Hi Dr Sassi,

I did in fact inform the Viz team of the issue.

Cheers

That’s great, Will.

I hope that will put the “how to get it to work” question out of the world.
Good documentation is everything, and I’m sure it will be improved with your input.

My best wishes
Sassi
