Just loaded C4D R16 studio and noticed the texture folder is missing or am i missing something?  Probably not a huge deal, but wasn’t sure if that was a bug or just the new way.

Thank you

Hi JR,

Edit: R16 has not a tex folder, see answer from JR below/edit

IF my “guess” is not helping, please contact the support. I will update the post here, in the moment my “content” is downloaded and installed in the current version of R16.

All the best

Hey Doc, been awhile…hope all is well on your end.

I’m going to contact support on this one, seems weird.  Probably forgot to load something, but I remember installing all additional materials/help/etc.

User error I’m sure..lol.

Really liking R16 so far.

take care

All fine here, thanks for asking, JR, I hope your doing fine as well.

I have to confess, that I don’t use any of those textures, nor the tex folder inside the app folder. As I install each update as a new version (for Cineversity purposes only) I do not install all the content each time. So I don’t feel very comfortable to say that I know that detail very well. The download continues here ... just to gain more certainty for your question :o)

I hope it will have an simple fix.

My best wishes

Here’s the reply from tech support for anyone else who is asking, where is the tex folder in R16.  Short answer…. it’s gone by design.

Tech support:

“You’re not missing anything.  R16 doesn’t have a tex folder built into the installation folder like the previous versions did.  All texture files the R16 Content Browser presets may use are fully embedded in their .lib4d library files now.

You can always create a tex folder in the R16 install folder if you need it, and it’ll work like it did in past versions.  For example, I know the GreyScaleGorilla Light Kits require you to put some textures in the tex folder.  If you are using this product, or something similar, you should create your own tex folder and drop all the needed textures within it.

I hope this helps.  Please let us know if you need any further assistance.”

Thank a lot, JR, for the update, I have edited my guess work above (I really mislike guessing… ;o) But I was not that far off to see a conjunctions to the Content Browser, well… didn’t help.

I hope all is clear now and everything else works.

All the best

You’re welcome, JR, but I was not a big help.

However, if the product counts, then there is a win. :o)

Have a great day.
