To bloom or not to bloom… that is my question :-)

Hi,

I am preparing a basic workflow to take animated items from C4D into Unity…

However there seem to be quite some difficulties in finding the right format to do so.

I have tried to bring this file over into Unity but either the animation does not carry over at all, or it jumps all over the place and… since I use petals with no real depth only ineside is visible. There is no double sided face option for export to Unity?

Maybe somebody can help me with this…

The animation is stil very primitive but that is because I am still figuring out the workflow before really going into more subtleties.

Albert

Hi Albert,

Please have a look at this little clip. First a simple test, then a test with your model.

The calculation of the normal based on the curved surface seems to flip the order, which would be my best guess of that scale behavior from “convex to concave”. Just a wild guess.

I’m certainly not an expert in Unity, so, please check with their support or explore the UNITY forum.

Here is a link that explains what is going on:

Even if one sets the “engine” to show both sides, the calculation will only show the result of one side again on the other.
If you need this effect, I guess a volume vs flat model is the key.

Here is a screenshot where I have named all materials in C4D and set up red, green, Yellow, Blue, Gray, to really make the materials visible:

All the best
