Voronoi using C4D Visualize

Hi:

As my C4D R18 is Visualize, I don’t seem to have Mograph?

Without Mograph, it appears I can’t generate voronoi patterns using the Voronoi Fracture feature, am I mistaken and/or is there a workaround?

I need to create a large mesh of voronoi pattern - maybe 2000+ cells - where each cell is a shallow concave surface (would be great to be able to adjust the depth of the cells)

This is for output to a CNC router to create a surface with this pattern/texture.

Any ideas would be helpful, thanks.

Hi JohnRoloff,

To see what option your current product has, please have a look here:
https://www.maxon.net/en/products/infosites/product-comparison/

The Voronoi pattern is a point creation based Voronoi Euclidian method in C4D. Please have a look here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voronoi_diagram
It has nothing to do with concave nor convex surfaces.

Yes MoGraph could support this target.

But you can also create a solution by using the
Mesh> Commands> Array Tool
https://help.maxon.net/#TOOLARRAY-MDATA_MAINGROUP

So, produce one of the concave elements and make certain the left side is equal (points) to the right, the front equal to the back.
Set the parameter in the Array so that the patter is to your liking.

With nothing selected, use the
Mesh> Commands > Optimize Function
Check if the mesh is connected now, the reason for the optimize. (the part in the clip when I pull on a polygon, to see if it is connected.)

The clip is here:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/QoNAKW6TUnmuEyW69l53rQX7ZTQfWnYaV7ekZGKD6K5?ref_=cd_ph_share_link_copy

To adjust the depth of the cells, this should be done before. Here again would MoGraph certainly a great tool, to blend individual elements, if they are in need to be individual.

BTW: nitro4D.com has a plug-in called Thrausi which works to my knowledge in a random (!) Voronoi pattern, and nitroFit to place objects into polygons (quads).

Let me know if there is something else, I’m happy to look into it.

All the best
