Baking everything for VR

I have a scene containing an HDRI studio (GSG) set up with the Physical Renderer plus AO & GI switched on. I wanted to use the reflective sphere method to bake the scene to then view on a VR headset. I’ve checked all my setting for the bake texture and Composite tag so many times, and there doesn’t seem to be a fix.

The trouble i’m having is whenever i bake the scene, the baked hdr doesn’t so my lighting as it should be. It’s dark and appears that the GI isn’t baking. Do i need to do some extra baking? What should be the correct process for something like this? Someone please help.

Thanks,
Will.

Hi Will,

Have you set the baking of the Sphere to Camera independent? No camera vector.
Example sketch:

I do not use “standard” spheres, as the Poles are always a problem, try this version instead, increase Sweep and Spline parameters as much as needed to get a tight UV.

Alternative:

I have send you an upload link. Please without GSG material/set up, not needed. Just the “Sphere” and its Tag.

BTW: The CV-VRcam is normally the way to go for head sets directly from C4D..

All the best

Thanks Dr Sassi!
Fixed to problem by using the CV-VRcam you mentioned, as it’s so easy to set up. Also, thanks for taking the trouble to send the example.
