attaching Cloner to Dynamic Box

Hi Team,

I’m having trouble connecting Cloners to a box that is moving via a dynamic null. the movement is delayed from the master Box. Is there a way to avoid the delay? I’m assuming this is a constraint or Priority solution, but I cant seem to figure it out. I’ave already attached a PSR and Parent constraint but neither work.
Any advice would be great.

See file attached.

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

No idea what is going on with the option to attach files. Sorry for the trouble. If “zip” doesn’t work it is a glitch. Please check you PM (private massages) and use the upload link.
Please just the needed parts for the problem in the scene, and certainly no 3rd party stuff (plug-ins, objects, etc Thanks a lot.

One thing you might check from the start, it the hierarchy in the Object manager OK, top objects will be processed first, so your Cloner should be below the dynamic.
Secondly, cache the Dynamic set up. Thanks for uploading, I will have a look into it.

Thanks for the file, Paul.

I’m not certain if I miss something, perhaps an idea why the Cloner is constrained as well while the “Cube REF” is used.

Have a look to the attached file, I have deleted one “Constrain”. Since the Cube places it, the extra constrain would leave it there or put it back, one action with no visible change. Again, perhaps that is something you wanted, then please share this idea with me. I have cached the dynamic, so this information is available at the beginning of the frame-calcuation, which takes a lot of uncertainty out of the priority. I left the follow Pos/Rot at 15.
Your file:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/LlS57wneibhy63I5hdCPgvo4eR8FM4LbhODx3DTAdcw?ref_=cd_ph_share_link_copy

The other Constrain is now set to Dynamic +100. (Switch it to initial and you have the delay back). The Camera Dependent, is on, but more for the fluidity of the editor view, see here:
https://help.maxon.net/#TEXTAG-OBASELIST

The Object manager needs to follow a certain processing hierarchy. More often than not, things work smoothly, but the more nested an expression set up becomes, the more it shows maybe a problem. Note that the Editor view refreshes and this might take away a clear view to a problem. Any animation rendered will pronounce this more often than not.

The “Priority” works in this way, the lowest [removed]Initial -499) will be processed first, which means it might be over-written, or it will be not available in time (while going one time along for a single frame, so the specific result of the previous frame must be used: hence the delay.

Please check out (at least the first two episodes in) this series. This is quite a substantial knowledge to have. Some objects have a fixed or even multiple levels of priority. Not simple, not completely documented either. However if in doubt, dial it up or down in the option available.

My best wishes.

Thanks Dr. Sassi. yes. That was a perfect solution.

I used the Cube Ref because I wanted to apply the cloners to just a simple cube. If I applied them to the modeled main cube there would have been extra clones. Make sense? So i used a simple cube for the clone object.
Yes, i had one unneccasry contraint. Thanks for helping me understand constraints more. I got lost a little in the explanations in the Help section. But im beginning to understand it better everytime.

Thanks again.

Hi Paul,

Please never take my reply as critic. I often put in question if I get all ideas, and look many times over a file before I write something. Sometimes, something I haven’t seen could be a new “trick” and I missed the point ;o) So, I explore even those (Hence why I always ask to send small files, as you did. So, not extra exploration. Thanks for that :o)

The overall priority and certainly a cluster of constrain can quickly become a “logical monster”. Even if one has a good management over it, it might look not that clear after one hasn’t open the file for a month, or someone else opens it and has to understand the flow of information.

Yes, I saw what happens to short cut the cubes, the little red cubes wouldn’t sit at all and the green edge option would look like a “explosion on the corners”.

My intention is mostly to streamline and simplify a set up. So, the next more complex set up doesn’t start with a too large base.
Anyway, thanks for the fast reply. In a nut shell—cache if you can, it certainly makes things more stable, and faster.

Let me know if there is anything else.

All the best
