Character Rig Panic

So I have a character all rigged up. I wanted to check the mesh out (to make sure I didn’t miss stuff) so I added a Cmotion to it for fun. A simple walk cycle. I saw the problems, fixed them then deleted the cmotion tag to get rid of the animation. Now, when I go to the adjust tab, the model is fine and still in it’s t-pose but once I go to the animate tab the character seems to have been put in to a completely messed up position and I can’t reset it. Somehow it’s been completely messed up. The “Reset Pose” and “Update” buttons do nothing. Does anyone have any idea how I’m supposed to get it back to it’s original t-pose state?

Hi Sean,

Have you enabled “Auto Save”? Is there a file with the state you liked, and can compare it? OR even better that works as you wanted it ...

The main thing normally, and described in all books to my knowledge is, that the orientation of the joints are not good. Could it be that the orientation of the joints has changed?

If you move arms, head and legs separately, is all “messed” up, even parts that weren’t involved in the C-Motion set up?

The next thing I would check, are the poles and targets (if IK was used) in a “working position”. Does the Pole object provides a good 2D plane?

I can’t see a change of the weighting with the C-Motion, hence why I exclude it here.

Let’s hope you have a back-up and can compare, at least.

My best wishes

I sent you a private message with a link to the file. If you wouldn’t mind taking a second to have a look at it I would appreciate it. I think I’m going to have to do the bindings all over again.

Hi Sean,

Please have a look at the link, I slowed down the movie this time, as it was doable in a few clicks.

Note the use of the shift click on the Reset buttons! This is essential.

I hope that works for you. :o)

All the best

Not sure if the “fast reply” went through, but in case it didn’t, you really saved my but. Thanks Dr. Sassi!
